Atlanta
(CNN) - For the first time in
decades, cavities are on the rise. What can you
do to keep your teeth healthy?
Q: Is it true that chewing xylitol
gum can help reduce the risk of tooth decay?
A: Yes. The physical motion of
chewing produces more saliva, which helps neutralize
pH balance to prevent cavities...studies have
shown that xylitol, a natural sweetener that tastes
like sugar, may suppress the growth of bacteria
in the mouth... [Furthermore] If a Mom chews it
during her pregnancy and up to two years postpartum,
her child's less likely to develop tooth decay
down the road (the bacteria that cause it are
often passed from mother to baby through kissing
or sharing food). |

Leading Studies July 9, 2008:
"More than half (59.4%) of the children
who received xylitol three times a day were
cavity-free after a year."
"Xylitol has been shown to reduce the
amount of bacteria in the mouth and the chewing
action helps increase the flow of saliva...
While anything that makes you salivate will
improve your breath, a gum that is sweetened
with xylitol is your best option. Xylitol is
a sugar substitute that not only increases salvation
but also works to prevent bacteria from replicating
in the mouth." "Sugar-free chewing
gum (especially gum that contains xylitol) are
good for your teeth. They help clear your mouth
of harmful sugars and protect against plaque.
These make great after-meal snacks... "

| I have Xerostomia (dry mouth..quite
severe from cancer treatments) and a history of dental
caries... I started chewing Zapp! for my dry mouth not
even knowing that it helped prevent dental decay! In
the past two years I have probably saved a couple thousand
in Dental work thanks to Zapp!
Zapp! has been a great relief for the Xerstomia.
It's really hard to find anything that works. I find
Zapp! is the best and I've been looking for 15 years.
